April 17th, 2008 by Senate Webmaster

The annual Relay For Life is scheduled for Friday April 18th 2008 with the opening ceremony at 6pm. There are cuRelay For Liferrently 43 teams and so far $14,395.74 have been raised! It is still not too late to register for the event! The final registration of teams and check in will be at 5pm tomorrow! Relay For Life is an event where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives. It will go from 7pm to 7am and will have bands, food and fun activities. The Gustavus Choir will also be preforming at 8:30. Last year we raised over $50,000 which was the second highest in the nation and first in the Midwest. We look forward to another great Relay For Life and hope to see everyone there!

What’s up Gustavus!

April 10th, 2008 by Senate Webmaster

Now that we have all settled back in from spring break, readjusted to the homework load, and for most of us, have really started to enjoy the nice sunny 80 degreeSunClipart weather!……or not so much. Right now its cold and rainy and the forecast doesn’t look to have a promising weekend outlook with snow very possible…….good old Minnesota weather!…..Hey but next week calls for high 50’s and low 60’s with sun!!! On a different note we thought you may be interested in knowing how to post events to the GACspot calendar. If you and/or your organization wants to put something on the GACspot calendar there is a very easy way to do so. Just click on the Student Senate link at the top (between the resources and Events links) and scroll down to GACspot and over to Submit an Event. Fill out all the information and hit the submit event button and we will put the event on the GACspot calendar, easy as that!

Welcome to GACspot!

February 7th, 2008 by Gustavus Senate

tony-chris.JPG

Greetings and welcome back to spring semester and to GACspot.com, the first and only website entirely created and run by Gustavus students, for Gustavus students!

This website, commissioned and run by the Student Senate, created by Stephen Titcombe ‘09, is meant to be the ultimate student site. In order to make this site as useful as possible we have loaded it with all the links a college student needs. From movie theaters and Gus Bus info, to calendars, academic info, web advisor and many more links found on the top navigation bar, you can access almost any site you will ever need.

But wait, while those sites are great are they really the sites students use the most? Probably not, which is why we’ve included some of the top sites just to your left! Here you can find your email, google, the dictionary and of course facebook.

Another feature to take advantage of is the GACspot event calendar. Whether you are looking for something to do on a given night or are looking for more ways to advertise your event, GACspot has you covered. To submit an event use the bar on the top (Student Senate > GACspot > Submit an Event).

While all this is great, the best part about GACspot is that it is run by students, which means it can easily change! The Student Senate webmaster is responsible for the upkeep of GACspot (that’s who you can blame if the site crashes… not us!!) and can easily make changes so that the site is what student’s want and need. In fact, you can submit your comments, suggestions and questions directly to the webmaster by using the “Contact Us” link by going through the Student Senate/GACspot links via the top of the page.

There is obviously a lot to see and do here on GACspot so take some time to explore and let us know what you think by contacting us! We’ll also be sure to highlight certain features of the site through the next couple of weeks.

We hope you enjoy the site!
